Wal-Mart Announces Move to Internet-based EDI

Recently, Bentonville, Ark.-based Wal-Mart has asked its suppliers to move away
from conventional EDI to an internet-based EDI model. Wal-Mart wishes to eliminate
the high cost of using EDI's value-added network (VAN) provider system. Wal-Mart
is asking its suppliers to adopt the EDI-INT AS2 specification for dealing with
business-to-business (B2B) communication.
